Bolland wins at Lernerville in follow-up
to Eckerd Victory
There was a chill in the air at Lernerville
Friday nite as race fans gathered to watch Keven Bolland return
to the Western Pa., raceway. "I've been battling the flu
all week" Bolland said as his 777 team did final preparations
to the car prior to the 20-lap Ferrante Oldsmobile feature.
At the start of the race Bolland stayed high
on the track, working his way down into competition and gradually
found his place on the fast and tacky Lernerville surface. From
that point on Bolland was in command of the race, with Gary Risch
Jr. and Brian Swartzlander in a duel for the control of second
place.
In the last three laps Swartzlander found an
opening and passed Risch for second place but there was not enough
time to catch Bolland.
Back at his trailer after his victory celebration
Bolland commented that "If I didn't use the VICKS VapoRub
and sweat this flu out earlier in the week, I don't know if I
could have done it".
